What is Duckworth Lewis Stern (DLS) and why is it used?

DLS is a method of setting a revised target score in cricket for the team batting second, when overs have been lost due to a suspension in play. This half day course aims to unlock the mystery of DLS and to explain about the two different forms (Professional and Standard) that are used. DLS calculations are done via software, either while scoring with Play-Cricket Scorer Professional (PCS Pro) on a laptop or using the Play-Cricket Scorer (PCS) app on a smartphone or tablet and the course covers both types of software.

The course objectives are:-

• Understand the history and terminology of DLS

• Identify the different versions of DLS

• Gain confidence in using DLS in Play Cricket Scorer Professional

• Use the DLS calculator in the Play Cricket Scorer app as a standalone calculator and while scoring

• Consider the protocols for using DLS in your cricket competitions

Please bring your own laptop running the Windows operating system and with PCS Pro already installed. If you cannot bring a Windows based laptop with PCS Pro on, you can be paired with someone else to during these exercises.
